Unzip the POI file pack to find an .ov2 and .bmp file named starbucks-City.ov2 and starbucks-City.bmp, e.g starbucks-NewYork_NewYork.ov2 and starbucks-NewYork_NewYork.bmp if you chose the New York pack. Now, you can either use our installer or manually install the files. If you use the installer you'll be asked to identify these two files and an optional voice file. If you manually install the files, following these instructions:
  1. Plug your device into a USB port on your PC.
  2. Power the device on and see confirmation of connection on device screen. Wait a few seconds for device to show up as a 'drive' on your PC - if you cannot see a new drive icon - find it by opening 'My Computer'.
  3. Open the drive and locate the directory or folder labeled 'mapdata'.
  4. Copy the .ov2 and .bmp files to the 'mapdata' folder.
  5. Rename the .ogg file so that it has the same name as the .ov2 file except a different suffix and copy it to the 'mapdata' folder. For example, if you are using the New York pack and you have the .ov2 file called starbucks-NewYork_NewYork.ov2 and you have the first Mr. T sound called MrTStarbucks1.ogg, you would rename MrTStarbucks1.ogg to starbucks-NewYork_NewYork.ogg.
After you have put the OV2 file on the SD card, restart the TomTom GO and if the file is correct, the new POI category will be added to the existing categories, with the BMP file being the icon for the category. If the BMP file is omitted, some default icon will show.

In the Manage POI page of the Preferences Menu, make sure the "Display POI" option is check marked. Also, make sure the new POI category is check marked from the Enable/Disable POI menu option (it is by default).

Even if you choose not to display your POI on the map, you can now select them in the same manner as the default POI categories, i.e. "Navigate To", "Itinerary Planning", etc.
