How to install premium voices on a Pocket PC with TomTom NAVIGATOR 5?

Answer

If you are using a pre-installed memory card purchased with NAVIGATOR 5:

Please check if you have a folder called "voices" on your SD card. If you have found this folder, then you only need to copy the 3 files (.chk, .bmp, .vif) into that folder or follow the instructions as explained in Option 1.

If you have installed the application from CD-rom, then you have to follow these steps (there are 2 alternatives to install a premium voice on your Pocket PC):

Option 1:

Connect your Pocket PC to your PC via the cradle or USB cable. The PC needs to have an internet connection.
Start TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 and go to "Download extras".
Select "Download voice".
Select the language of the voice.
Choose the voice that you purchased.
Download the voice.

The voice will now be saved automatically in the correct folder.

Option 2:

Download the voice file from the TomTom PLUS services portal.
Save the .zip file to your Desktop. You will need to extract the files from the .zip file.
Connect your PDA to your PC via the cradle or USB cable. Then open Active Sync and go to "Explore".
Create a new folder and name it “voices”.
Open the folder voices and paste the 3 files in here that you have extracted.
