TomTom users are required to enter their TomTom device code prior to downloading the .zip file. You can do this as you set up your Navtones account or later when you’re ready to download the voice.

Garmin voices are installed directly to your Garmin device from your internet browser. You will need the Device Communicator plug-in (powered by Garmin) installed on your computer, and your compatible device to install your voices. Click here to get the Device Communicator plug-in.

Okay, so you’ve successfully downloaded and installed your new TomTom voice(s) but why isn’t it playing? Even though you’ve easily managed to get the new voice(s) on your device, you still need to select the voice you want in order for it to be active.

FAQ: How Do I Install My TomTom Voice?

TomTom voices are delivered as a .zip file containing three files. Save the .zip file and unzip (extract). All files have the same name but different file extensions. For example:

data99.chk - contains encrypted audio files
data99.vif - voice information file
data99.bmp - voice image

Just copy the three (unzipped) files to the 'voices' folder of your TomTom and you are ready to go!
